Pandora

Directed by Jennifer Redman
Cinematography: Robert King
Production Design: Jennifer Redman

Pandora is my final year independent practice piece and my baby! I made this film so I could have fun with the production design and mix fantasy with reality.

Loosely based on the Greek myth, the film follows 'Dora' on a dramatic day at college. Just about to reach womanhood Dora is opened up to whole new experiences and mainly unwanted attention from her male peers and role models. The story revolves around a dream the protagonist has that haunts her thoughts throughout the day. It's a character study of an awkward adolescent girl with a creative mind and her head in the clouds.

This project is still in production and has taught me a lot about the relationship between the role of Director and Production Designer and how much the latter contributes to making the characters come to live and their world a reality.

I designed and dressed the dream set which was one of the most challenging aspects of this film so far. A lot of thought had to go into creating depth and texture to the set that would be seen on the HD JVC camera. With the aid of green and purple gels I created atmosphere and the dreamscape colour palette.
